Technical DPV in the United States: 12 dive centres on TecDiveTools, with agencies, courses taught and a summary of what students say. 3 publish course prices.
TecDiveTools lists 12 dive centres teaching Technical DPV in the United States. 3 of them publish course prices, in the currency the shop advertises and with the date each was checked — not converted, and not estimated.
Listings are ordered by how much evidence exists about their technical diving, not by a star rating, with any paid Featured listing shown first and marked as such (how rankings work). 8 of these 12 carry reviews we have read and classified as being about technical or overhead training. The count excludes recreational certifications by name, so a busy resort does not outrank a one-instructor cave operation on the volume of its reef trips. Separately, 5 have at least one instructor whose reviews we have read and summarised — a dive centre carries no synthesis of its own. How we read and count reviews.

About the course
Technical DPV (officially 'DPV Overhead Diver' in Part 2 standards) teaches trained cave or mine divers to safely operate Diver Propulsion Vehicles in overhead environments. This course covers DPV components, maintenance, proper rigging, and dive planning that incorporates extended penetration and complex gas management with DPV support. Graduates can conduct DPV-assisted technical dives in caves and mines with proper double-turn-around procedures and emergency protocols.
Students complete 3 overhead DPV dives (90+ minutes accumulated bottom time), demonstrating proficiency with: DPV pre-dive checks and maintenance, buoyancy and trim control while scootering, proper towing procedures and team coordination, emergency procedures (e.g., disabled DPV management), gas management on DPV dives, and safe ascent protocols.
The centres listed above teach TDI Technical DPV in United States. Requirements are set by the agency, not the centre, so they are the same wherever you train — what differs is price, class size and how much diving is included.
12 dive centres on TecDiveTools teach TDI Technical DPV in the United States: North Florida Cave Country (4), Southeast Florida (4), Florida Keys (2), Florida Panhandle (1) and Florida West Coast (Tampa Bay) (1). Each is listed above.
Deep training usually means offshore wrecks — the Spiegel Grove and Bibb at around 40 m off Key Largo, and the USS Oriskany, whose flight deck at about 43 m and sand at about 65 m take you into trimix territory.
At the same tier in TecDiveTools' cross-agency comparison, dive centres in the United States also teach IANTD Tek DPV Diver (6). They are comparable rather than interchangeable — each agency sets its own standards and card, so check which one your next course accepts.
