Semi-Closed Rebreather in the United States: 5 dive centres on TecDiveTools, with agencies, courses taught and a summary of what students say.
TecDiveTools lists 5 dive centres teaching Semi-Closed Rebreather in the United States.
Listings are ordered by how much evidence exists about their technical diving, not by a star rating, with any paid Featured listing shown first and marked as such (how rankings work). 4 of these 5 carry reviews we have read and classified as being about technical or overhead training. The count excludes recreational certifications by name, so a busy resort does not outrank a one-instructor cave operation on the volume of its reef trips. Separately, 3 have at least one instructor whose reviews we have read and summarised — a dive centre carries no synthesis of its own. How we read and count reviews.

About the course
CORRECTED TIER: This is a diver-level course, not instructor trainer. Semi-Closed Rebreathers (SCR) sit between open circuit and full CCR—they recirculate breathing gas but bleed off controlled portions rather than actively managing oxygen. Entry-level rebreather certification covering unit-specific operation, pre-dive checks, and no-decompression diving. Usually a diver's first rebreather step before CCR training.
Minimum dives vary by unit: Draeger 4 dives/100 minutes; Submatix ST100 5 dives/125 minutes; Azimuth 6 dives/150 minutes; Scuba Force SFX 6 dives/180 minutes. Maximum depth 40m/130ft, no decompression. Graduates qualified for no-decompression SCR diving with nitrox mixes.
The centres listed above teach TDI Semi-Closed Rebreather in United States. Requirements are set by the agency, not the centre, so they are the same wherever you train — what differs is price, class size and how much diving is included.
5 dive centres on TecDiveTools teach TDI Semi-Closed Rebreather in the United States: Florida Keys (2), Southeast Florida (2) and Florida West Coast (Tampa Bay) (1). Each is listed above.
Rebreathers are common in Florida's cave community for long penetrations, and the springs' constant temperature and depth make them a practical place to build hours on a unit.
