Cavern in Mexico: 2 dive centres on TecDiveTools, with agencies, courses taught and a summary of what students say. 1 publish course prices.
TecDiveTools lists 2 dive centres teaching Cavern in Mexico. 1 of them publish course prices, in the currency the shop advertises and with the date each was checked — not converted, and not estimated.
Listings are ordered by how much evidence exists about their technical diving, not by a star rating, with any paid Featured listing shown first and marked as such (how rankings work). 2 of these 2 carry reviews we have read and classified as being about technical or overhead training. The count excludes recreational certifications by name, so a busy resort does not outrank a one-instructor cave operation on the volume of its reef trips. Separately, 1 have at least one instructor whose reviews we have read and summarised — a dive centre carries no synthesis of its own. How we read and count reviews.

About the course
A foundational overhead environment course emphasizing buoyancy control and non-silt propulsion techniques in confined underwater spaces. Students learn guideline navigation, emergency procedures specific to overhead environments, and proper weighting for minimal silt generation. Maximum penetration is 60 metres (200 feet) from the surface, within the light zone only where natural light remains visible from the entrance. This entry-level overhead course builds confidence in confined spaces and prepares divers for deeper cave training progression through refined skills.
Demonstrate buoyancy control and hover within plus/minus 50 centimetres, non-silt propulsion techniques, backwards kick proficiency, guideline navigation, emergency procedures in overhead environments, and proper weighting management.
The centres listed above teach RAID Cavern in Mexico. Requirements are set by the agency, not the centre, so they are the same wherever you train — what differs is price, class size and how much diving is included.
2 dive centres on TecDiveTools teach RAID Cavern in Mexico: Akumal (1) and Playa del Carmen (1). Each is listed above.
The cenotes are the benchmark place to train: around 24–25°C, very clear, with daylight cavern zones for a first course and some of the longest mapped cave systems in the world for full cave and beyond. The number of entrances and the variety of passage — decorated, wide, low, haloclined — let you train on different cave profiles in a single trip.
At the same tier in TecDiveTools' cross-agency comparison, dive centres in Mexico also teach TDI Cavern (69), IANTD Cavern Diver (33), NSS-CDS Cavern Tech Diver (2), NSS-CDS Single Tank Cavern Diver (2) and PSAI Cavern Diver (1). They are comparable rather than interchangeable — each agency sets its own standards and card, so check which one your next course accepts.
