Ted McCoy teaches backmount, sidemount and CCR cave in the High Springs area and works for ScubaForce USA — he is one of five instructors Ken Sallot named when asked who he would send his own family to, having co-taught with all of them. The recurring description is unshowy competence: InDEPTH called him an unassuming drysuit repairman who happens to be a world-class cave diver, and a ScubaBoard poster recommending him for an SF2 crossover called him "one of the hardest working and ethical instructors in Cave Country," adding that he stays out of cave politics. He also comes up as a backmount-friendly choice alongside Paul Heinerth and Mark Fowler, and takes rebreather students on the Megalodon. He supports the Dive Gainesville long-range exploration projects on the logistics side.
