CCR Trimix Cave Diver
Advanced closed-circuit rebreather training for deep mixed-gas cave diving combining rebreather systems management with trimix procedures to depths not exceeding 90 m/300 ft. This course integrates CCR technology with deep mixed-gas diving, requiring mastery of both rebreather setpoint maintenance and helium/oxygen/nitrox management in extreme overhead environments. Students master pre-dive planning skills, monitor hypercapnia and setpoint margins, and execute complex decompression obligations at depth while on a rebreather.
Prerequisites
CCR Cave Diver certification (or equivalent), Trimix certification (concurrent acceptable), minimum 50 hours CCR bottom time post-certification on specific unit, minimum 21 years old.
Standards
What a diver must demonstrate to pass this course — not always published by the certifying agency.
Demonstrate mastery of all CCR Cave Diver skills and all Trimix Cave Diver knowledge including deep mixed-gas physiology, oxygen/helium narcosis, complex decompression, and deep cave planning. Execute deep trimix dives on CCR with proper oxygen partial pressure management, diluent selection, bailout procedures for deep environment, and integrated decompression procedures. Manage setpoint monitoring and hypercapnia prevention during extended deep dives. Demonstrate ability to execute required gas switches and bailout scenarios in deep overhead environment.
