Getting your prices onto the course pages
Every course page on this site — /courses and each certification beneath it — is built from prices that dive centres publish. This is how to get yours there, and the two settings that decide whether your listing appears beside the others or sits on its own.
Adding a price
- 1
Open your listing and press Edit
Find your centre in the directory and open its page. If you have claimed the listing you will see an Edit button; if not, get in touch and we will connect it to your account.
- 2
Expand “Prices” and add a line
The edit form is one form with one Save button at the bottom that saves everything, including the prices. Sections start collapsed; open Prices and press Add a line for each course you teach.
- 3
Write the course name exactly as you sell it
The Course or item field is your own wording and we never replace it — a diver arriving from your website has to recognise what they are looking at. If you call it “AN/DP Combo”, write that.
- 4
Set “Linked course” — this is the one that matters
This dropdown is the whole mechanism. It lists every certification in the catalog, grouped by agency, and it is what puts your price on the right course page. Pick the agency you certify under, then the course.
Leave it on No linked course only when the line genuinely is not one certification — a package covering three levels, an upgrade from a rating the diver already holds, or a guided-diving rate.
A price with no linked course still shows on your own page, so from your side nothing looks wrong — but it cannot appear on the course page, because nothing says which course it is for. This is the commonest reason a centre is missing from a listing.
- 5
Add the source URL and the date you checked it
The Source URL is the page on your own site where the price is published. It is what lets the listing say as published by the dive centrerather than supplied for this listing, and it is the difference between a figure a diver trusts and one they ring you to confirm.
Checked on is shown to readers. A price dated this season reads as current; an undated one reads as unverified.
Please publish a course total, not a day rate
The Charged per field decides how your price is treated everywhere on the site, and it is worth a moment's thought.
A day rate is never compared with a course total, and it never can be. If one shop publishes €900 for Advanced Nitrox and you publish €200 a day, those two numbers cannot go in the same range: yours might be €600 over three days or €1,000 over five, and the site has no way to know which. So day rates are listed separately, under charged by the day or dive rather than as a course price, below the centres that publish a total — and they are left out of the headline figure a diver reads first.
The same applies to the /courses index, where each certification carries a single comparison figure. Day rates are excluded from it entirely, because “from €200” against a four-day minimum is out by four times, and publishing that would misrepresent you rather than flatter you.
If you genuinely price by the day, still say so — but fill in Minimum days. The listing then shows your rate and what the minimum actually comes to, which is the number a diver is comparing. A day rate with no minimum is the one entry we cannot make useful.
The rest of the fields
- Duration
- “4 days”, “6 dives”. Shown beside the price. Two centres charging the same for the same course are rarely selling the same amount of water time.
- Note
- What the price does and does not include — “excludes helium and sorb”, “includes certification fee”. Inclusions are the reason two honest quotes differ by 40%, and saying so protects you from looking expensive.
- This price is for / Second price is for
- A labelled pair, for when you charge differently by class size or room sharing — e.g. “1 student” at one figure and “2+ students” at another. Both halves are labelled because the same field means class size at one shop and occupancy at another, and two unlabelled numbers cannot say which.
- Currency
- Always your own. Prices are never converted on your page or in the range — a diver books in the currency you charge in. The /courses index shows an approximate dollar figure for comparison only, dated and labelled as such.
Why your centre might not be showing
- No linked course. The price is on your page but nothing connects it to a certification. This is the usual cause — see step 4.
- Linked to the wrong agency's version. Six agencies have a course called “Extended Range” and they are not the same certification. The dropdown is grouped by agency for this reason; pick the one whose card your student receives.
- Priced by the day with no minimum. The row appears, but beneath the totals and outside the headline figure. Adding a minimum fixes it.
- The line is a package. Bundles spanning several certifications are listed on their own package pages rather than on a single course page, because a three-course price is not the price of one course.
- It was saved under an hour ago. Course pages are cached briefly. Give it a few minutes.
One thing we will not do
We do not rewrite your course names, round your figures, invent a “from” price out of a single entry, or merge currencies into one range. If something on your listing reads wrong to you, it is a bug and we want to hear about it — tell us.
