RCCR Ice Diver

Official course standards ↗Last updated September 7, 2026

Recreational CCR ice diving under solid frozen surfaces, combining overhead environment hazards with rebreather management. Teaches ice-specific entry/exit procedures, line deployment, navigation under ice, emergency ascent protocols on rebreather, and operational preparation for extreme cold environments. Unlocks access to pristine glacial, alpine, and polar environments on CCR equipment.

Prerequisites

IANTD Recreational CCR Diver or equivalent certification. IANTD Dry Suit Diver certification (or equivalent dry suit experience demonstrated in confined water; divers without certification earn Dry Suit certification upon completion). Proof of minimum 25 logged CCR dives with at least 10 dives in temperatures of 50°F (10°C) or colder. Minimum age 18 years.

Standards

What a diver must demonstrate to pass this course — not always published by the certifying agency.

Demonstrate safe ice entry and exit procedures, guideline deployment and management under ice, navigation and location awareness under solid surfaces, emergency ascent protocols specific to overhead ice environments, and CCR performance monitoring in extreme cold.
