Official course standards ↗Last updated September 7, 2026

This course trains instructors to certify divers in normoxic-trimix staged decompression diving to 60m/200ft, positioning instructors as experts in intermediate technical decompression training. Instructors must master normoxic trimix physics and rationale, guide students through decompression procedures from shallow to deep planning, evaluate student competency on technical dives, and be proficient with both sidemount and twinset configurations. The course prepares instructors to serve as a crucial bridge between recreational and extreme technical instruction, helping divers build methodical decompression discipline. Successful normoxic decompression instructors often specialize in wreck or cave diving environments.
