Luis Leal

Leal is an IANTD instructor trainer based in Tulum, teaching through ActunProTulum, and what students have written about him is recent and strikingly warm. Two separate ScubaBoard posters describe completing full cave with him: one, a diver of forty-four years, calls it "my best diving experience in my 44 years diving", and another posted on joining the board simply to say he had just been certified full cave diver with him in the caves near Tulum. He is also recommended as a guide rather than only an instructor — "if you're interested in cave diving anywhere around Tulum and need a guide I recommend you try to contact Luis Leal" — which is a useful distinction in a region where many certified divers want somebody to dive with rather than another course. The most telling mention is the company he is listed in. An r/scuba thread recommending cavern and cave instructors groups him with a handful of others under one shared description: "they all function on the premise that cave diving is not where you cut corners, you will absolutely earn any certification". His Google reviews say the same thing from the student's side — skill-building, stress management, and divers finishing the course feeling genuinely prepared rather than merely certified. Only a few students have written about him so far, but they all say the same thing.
