Lamar Hires
Rebreather SpecialistLamar Hires co-founded Dive Rite in 1984 with Mark Leonard and remains its president — the company grew out of gear he was building for himself because nothing suitable existed for the north Florida springs he had been diving since 1979. He is one of the people most responsible for sidemount becoming a mainstream configuration rather than a cave-diving oddity, and he has spent four decades as an explorer, instructor trainer and equipment designer. He teaches the full TDI technical and cave syllabus, from cavern through full cave and cave decompression to advanced trimix, along with rebreather instruction on the Dolphin semi-closed and the O2ptima.
