Edd Sorenson
Cave SpecialistRebreather SpecialistCave RescueEdd Sorenson runs Cave Adventurers in Marianna and is the best-known cave rescue diver working today — he is credited with more live rescues of lost or trapped cave divers than anyone else, most of them in the Florida panhandle systems near his shop, and he is regularly the first call when a diver goes missing at Jackson Blue or Vortex. He began diving in 1996, moved into caves within a few years, and has spent much of the time since lecturing on the decisions that put divers in the position of needing him. He teaches cave and rebreather courses, including on the KISS Sidewinder.

Reviewers treat Edd as a destination in himself — one describes divers travelling "from all points of the globe" to train with him, and several cite his cave rescue and recovery record as the reason. On the teaching itself, a CCR Fundamentals student describes instruction that starts from the individual and their equipment configuration and then pushes them to refine it, rather than running a fixed syllabus. An older review praises the shop for talking a customer out of a poor gear choice without upselling, and another notes he "left his ego out of the equation" — a theme that recurs given his standing. Not every review is positive: a recent one-star review describes a student who broke a finger on day two, agreed with Edd to finish the course later, and was then unhappy with how that was honoured. It is the only negative review among them, but it is recent and worth reading before you book.
