Douglas G. Ebersole
Rebreather SpecialistDouglas Ebersole is an interventional cardiologist as well as a technical and cave instructor, a combination that makes him one of the people the diving community turns to on cardiac fitness to dive, PFOs and the medical side of decompression — he speaks and writes on those subjects for diving audiences. Ebersole is named among the small handful of Florida cave and CCR instructors that r/CaveDiving regulars list unprompted, alongside Jill Heinerth and Richard Harris. The teaching praise is specific about attention to detail — a ScubaBoard poster who only did an intro class in a pool with him singled that out — and he teaches the full range himself, "everything from open water through CCR full trimix and CCR cave". The second strand of his reputation is medical: he is an interventional cardiologist and writes and speaks on PFO, cardiac risk and rebreather incidents for DAN and RAID, which is why divers often approach him with physiology questions rather than training ones. He is also a long-standing ScubaBoard contributor, so much of what exists is him answering other people's questions.
