Andreas Sueess
Swiss, from the German-speaking cantons, and known to everyone in Dahab as Andy. He discovered diving on a try dive in Tunisia in 2008, certified Open Water in Lake Zürich, and worked up to Divemaster and Instructor while assisting at a local shop; an IANTD Advanced Nitrox course was what turned him toward technical diving. In 2012 he moved permanently to Dahab, joining Lagona Divers at Happy Life Village as a recreational instructor and reaching his first technical instructor level in 2014. He now runs Lagona Divers Technical with Kerstin Olbrich and sits on the board of Dahab Divers Technical. TDI ratings through Trimix, Advanced Trimix, Extended Range, Helitrox, Sidemount, Decompression Procedures, Intro to Tech and both gas-blending certifications. Reviewers of the centre name him beside Kerstin constantly; our review matcher does not, because it reads full names and his students write Andy.

Süess — Andy to every student who writes about him — runs Lagona Divers Technical in Dahab with Kerstin Olbrich, and many of his students describe training with him. Several students took a run of courses with him as a block over a fortnight, having come to Dahab specifically for it. He also teaches the chest-mounted Triton CCR, which a returning student contrasts with Kerstin's backmounted X-CCR: both of them, he writes, are "the right level of nerdy to look at details properly but at the same time down to earth and honest about possible downsides". What comes up repeatedly is the same thing his SSI Extended Range students describe — the ability to break a complex idea into its parts without losing the part that makes it work — and time spent on fundamentals before progression, with buoyancy and back-kick drilled until a student can plan and lead their own dives rather than follow one. Several reviewers mention him answering questions by email at length before they ever booked. The centre blends its own helium at a published per-litre price.
