Figari founded Cave Training Mexico in Playa del Carmen in 2001 and has taught full cave, technical and rebreather diving there since 2007. She is an Italian cave instructor trainer and CCR specialist who moved to Mexico in her forties to dive full time, and an associate member of the Explorers Club of New York. In the forums she is normally named together with her partner Peter Boger as "Alessandra Figari & Peter Boger of Cave Training Mexico", and the accounts of her teaching are short, recent and unanimous. Three separate ScubaBoard posters who did full cave with her describe her as excellent, one adding that she also guides cenote dives for divers already certified. A cavern student notes the class was taught against the NSS-CDS Cavern Manual — worth knowing, since cavern courses in the region vary widely in what they actually cover. She speaks fluent Italian, Spanish, French and English, which comes up as a practical reason people choose her. Her students write on the forums rather than on Google. She has long worked on conservation as well, but what students write about is the instruction.
