In 2014 Gabr descended to 332.35 m on open circuit off Dahab — the deepest scuba dive ever recorded, a Guinness World Record that Guinness re-examined and upheld after it was publicly questioned. He now runs Double Wing Tek in Hurghada, where he teaches technical and rebreather diving and trains instructors. Forum posts name him as the technical diver leading dives off a Red Sea liveaboard, and one diver who met him there describes him as down to earth. Few students have written publicly about his courses yet, so his record is easier to check than his teaching — ask him for references from recent students.
